On December 8, 2020, Sigazieva Madina, a 2nd-year master's student of the Eurasian National University after L.N.Gumilyov, held an open lecture as part of teaching practice for the 3rd-year students majoring in Journalism. The lecture was delivered together with an invited guest a data journalism specialist, author of articles on Factcheck.kz and СABAR.asia Aslan Seit.
The main topic of the lecture was a graphical way of presenting information in the Internet. Graduate student M.Sigaziyeva determined introductory concepts in visualization, shared information about the interactive maps and gave an overview of useful services for its’ creation. In turn, the guest A.Seit introduced the participants to the methods of data search and analysis. A.Seit demonstrated the method of information processing on the example of his works and clarified the nuances of work when collecting, analyzing and structuring the material.
At the end of the meeting, students were asked to find errors in one of the papers and were asked questions. Students learned how to visualize data and how to monetize this skill.
