"The Impact of Global Changes on the development of Global and regional Energy 2021"

As part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, the Department of Political Science held an international seminar "The Impact of Global Changes on the development of Global and regional Energy 2021" at 14:30 on May 18, 2021.     The moderator was a graduate of ENU: Abildaev Almaz-PhD, political scientist, energy security analyst, director of the Center "Energy Aspects of Kazakhstan".

Invited speakers:

1. Dr. Frank Umbach is the Research Director of the European Center for Energy and Resource Security (EUCERS) at King's College London, United Kingdom. "The European Green Deal of the EU, its energy aspects and prospects for cooperation between the EU and Kazakhstan".

2. Belogoryev Alexey Mikhailovich, Deputy Chief Director for the Energy Direction of the Institute of Energy and Finance, Director of the Center for Strategic Analysis and Forecasting of the Fuel and Energy Complex, Member of the Academic Council of the Institute of Energy Strategy. Moscow, Russia. Topic of the docalad: "The oil market in the transition to low-carbon development: risks and opportunities for oil-producing countries".

3. Turganov Dyusenbay Nurbayevich, member of the Committee on Ecology and Nature Management of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Honored Power Engineer of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honored Power Engineer of the CIS, Honorary Power Engineer of Ukraine. The topic of the docalad: "Kazakhstan's energy sector in the context of a new environmental policy".

The seminar is aimed at improving the level of scientific and analytical research, directions, and mechanisms for improving the effectiveness of Kazakhstan's participation in the processes of transformation of the world energy sector, ensuring Eurasian energy security, and multilateral and bilateral energy cooperation with all countries of the world.

The seminar was organized and conducted jointly with the Center "Energy Aspects of Kazakhstan". The event was held online in the form of a video conference with the participation of leading world, Kazakh, and Russian experts in the field of energy policy.

The participants discussed the main criteria for the development of global energy in the context of the pandemic, the global energy transition, and issues related to the impact of these factors on the development of energy in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

The seminar achieved its goals by creating an analytical platform for discussing the processes of global and regional energy, facilitating contacts between ENU scientists and international experts.
