Faculty Development Strategy

The faculty of journalism and political science at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University implements a development policy aimed at strengthening its position and competitiveness in the system of higher education and achieving high performance in all areas of work.

A successful implementation of the Faculty Development Strategy for 2011–2016 made it possible to create a sufficiently stable basis for further growth. Deep modernization of the educational and scientific infrastructure was carried out, new partnerships were created and existing ones were strengthened with domestic and foreign universities, conditions for boosting the teaching and scientific personnel potential were created, the number of students enrolled in state educational grants increased, and the number of Master’s and PhD students rose. The Faculty of Journalism and Political Science has established itself as a system-forming factor in the formation of staff for the capital and the country as a whole.

An analysis of the performance dynamics of the faculty allows us to conclude that in recent years, the faculty has been involved virtually in all development mechanisms aimed at obtaining results from internal modernization processes. At the same time, it is necessary to carry out a qualitative transition to a new state determined by the significantly increased role of the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov (ENU) in the educational system.

Among the new challenges is the growing competition in the educational market. Therefore, the faculty needs to conduct constant work to improve its competitiveness. The faculty should become a stable educational system that is capable of solving external problems effectively. The faculty competes not only for resources—applicants, admission figures, finance for research, and infrastructure support—but also for the right to remain a competitive university structure.

The development strategy of the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science until 2020 was developed in accordance with the adjustment of the ENU Development Strategy until 2020 and with the Plan for the Implementation of the Development Strategy of ENU for 2017-2020, taking into account the Presidential Addresses to the People of Kazakhstan "Kazakhstan's Way—2050: Common Goal, Common Interests, Common Future," "Kazakhstan in a New Global Reality: Growth, Reforms, and Development," the President's Program "Plan of the Nation—100 Concrete Steps," the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2017-2021, and the ENU Development Plan for 2017-2021.
