PhD student of the Department of Political Science organized a scientific seminar on "Water issues in Central Asia"

On November 1, 2023, within the framework of pedagogical practice, a 2nd-year PhD student of the Department of Political Science K.Batyrbayev conducted a curatorial hour for master’s degree students in the form of a scientific seminar on "Water issues in Central Asia".

The speaker stressed the importance of students' participation in scientific and practical activities for the development of their research skills and professional growth.

According to the previously provided recommendations, participants made presentations containing a brief literature review and methodology on the research topic and also demonstrated practical skills of data collection, analysis of results and design of research work.

Participants discussed the problems of dilapidated state of water infrastructure, irrational use of water for agriculture and drip irrigation mechanisms, technologies for desalination of seawater from the Caspian Sea, problems of joint use of transboundary rivers, successful experience of foreign countries in resolving water disputes, current projects of international financial institutions to invest in the industry under consideration, as well as challenges and prospects for solutions water issues in Central Asia.

The seminar ended with a question and answer section, where undergraduates could ask questions of interest.
