Informative lecture and talk

Recently, the correspondent of the newspaper "Aikyn" held a master class with third-year students of the educational programme in journalism. The meeting was organised by Gulzhaukhar Zhambylovna Bolatova, Associate Professor and Deputy Dean for Work with Students of the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
Botagoz Ikramova, a journalism graduate from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and current head of the social department of the newspaper "Aikyn", came to share her experience at the lecture class on the discipline of "Social Journalism". After getting acquainted with the students, she opened the topic "Preparation of Materials on Social Topics" with specific examples. What to begin with when writing an article on social themes: how do we gather information? What should be the structure of the article? While answering such topical questions, the experienced journalist gave us this useful advice: "It is important not only to look for social themes from afar and focus only on their relevance; it is also desirable to explore and describe the problems that your loved ones or yourself are experiencing". During the collection of information for a social article, it is necessary to consider that a full-fledged article will come out only if three basic requirements are met: giving importance to the source, finding new statistics, and visiting the place of the problem. In this context, an experienced journalist spoke in detail about how she researched this topic, showing her articles on a social topic published in the newspaper "Aikyn. The article should be divided into subheadings, and in each subheading there should be an accent that makes the reader think deeply. During the lecture, with a skilful combination of theory and practice, the students were fully informed and understood the topic.
Botagoz Ikramovna also talked about her work experience and shared interesting stories. At the end of the lecture, she answered the questions, which are interesting for future young journalists. Also, the invited guest, on her own behalf, gave the students who asked questions several "National Geographic" magazines. She also thanked Gulzhauhar Zhambylovna for giving her the opportunity. At the end of the lesson, we were given the assignment to write an article on a social topic based on the methods learned in today's informative lesson. The students also expressed great gratitude for the two-hour lecture.
